It's Time to Make A Change

30 is fast approaching and its time to make a few changes... I have a new blog address at Wordpress AND a new blog name!

New Site Name is The Lint Knitter

I have made the move for a variety of reasons. Better templates, better organization and user interface, but primarily because I was tired of not being able to contact the wonderful people who are leaving comments on my site but blogger keeps saying "noreply-comment" when it comes to the e-mail address.

I hope this goes better on Wordpress and I can actually respond to your comments. For the few readers I have don't forget to update your bloglines or other feeds for my new address. Hope to see you over there soon

Finished Object - Leaves and Mohair Scarf

(Click on Image for Larger View)

Yarn: Rowan KidHaze (70% Super Kid mohair30% Silk) and Berroco Cotton Twist (70% Mercerized Cotton, 30% Rayon)
Time: Way too long - probably 2 months off and on
Inspiration: Vogue Knitting Spring/Summer Issue Mohair and Leaves Scarf
Needles: Size 5
Yardage: Not quite a full skeing of KidHaze and barely any of the Berroco Cotton Twist yarn

This scarf was a bear for me because of the 3 color yarn for the leaves. They slowed down the knitting because I kept twisting them as I knit. Very annoying. I have to say it was a pretty fun pattern seeing the leaves materialize in the kid haze background. I think I will prefer to wear it this way like a Neckerchief because it rolls despite my blocking, which admittedly I am not that great at. The last pic is with my sister again. She is modeling one of my earlier projects.

Finished Object - Peacock Shrug

Yarn: Noro Lotus (57% Rayon/23% Nylon/12% Acrylic/8% Cashmere)
Time: About 3 days knitting, 4 weeks sitting before becoming a shrug
Inspiration: Filatura Di Crosa 127 Print Crochet-Look Capelet
Needles: Size 19
Yardage: 3 skeins = 165 yards

This project definitely go a second life as I was going to frog it on Wednesday. I really love the yarn and the colors so I wanted to accentuate the color changes. It started as the Crochet-look capelet from Filatura Di Crosa but I didn't think I would ever wear it. So I tried it on one more time and then thought...wow I could make a shrug. Then i thought hey cool scarf....hence the dual life of a once froggable creation. Now this is my favorite accessory. May I present...Peacock.

Finished Object - Flora

(Click on Image for Larger View)

Yarn: Artfibers Kyoto (silk 69% superkid mohair 25% exrafine wool 6%) and Finlandia
Time: 1 week
Inspiration: Knitty.com Flora
Needles: Size 8
Yardage: About 3/4 skein Kyoto, barely dented the Finlandia

This is my friend's new christmas present. She is featured here modelling with her new neckwarmer. She is also quite a good artist/craftster, you can see her here with a painting she created about 8 years ago. The neckwarmer was a fairly quick knit, but had just enough pizazz to keep my interest peaked. I love the elegant stylings and how well she wears it. The pattern is Flora from Knitty.com. I used two different colors - abeige Kyoto yarn from Artfibers that has been in my stash for about 6 months that I have been dying to use, coupled with the blue shimmery Filandia yarn from my June 4th update that I bought at the Yarn Lady Sale.

Last but not least my new felted shopping bag. This was inspired by the shopping bag in the Holiday Vogue Knitting 2004. I love VK magazine. I think I still need a charm for the middle....what do you think?

Here is my Fraggle Rock Hat courtesy of http://www.mlminspirations.com/patterns/. I had to do the peace sign because to me this is reminiscent of Japanese fashion.
